2024 – THE YEAR THAT WAS
2024 was an interesting and fun year! After spending 2023 as a full-time writer, I went back to a ‘day job’ this year, which reduced my writing output as my brain juices were channelled toward learning the ropes of the new job. My only release was a short story in the SNAFU: Comms horror anthology (free when you sign up to the Cohesion Press newsletter).
That said, I still managed to pitch, write, edit, and deliver a novella for a media tie-in property (currently scheduled for a July 25 release – will share details when I can). I also wrote another small but exciting project due for release by July 2025 – which sees me branch into a new medium (will share details when I can). I also spent a fair bit of time screenwriting, pitching, and working with a few different producers on different projects (shorts, features and TV).
Other highlights include:
– Being selected for Screenwest’s Tele-Navigator programme and working with the fabulous Tony Ayers on my TV pilot.
– My first guest appearance at the Perth Writers Weekend, as part of the Perth Festival, thanks to Writing WA.
– My first TV interview on The Couch TV – which was a lot of fun.
– A live radio interview with Fred Mafrica on 6PR – also a lot of fun.
– Being selected for WIFT (Women in Film & Television) Australia’s ‘ElevateUs’ mentoring programme, and being paired with Natasha Le Petit.
– My unpublished science fiction short story, Turbines, reaching #15 on Coverfly’s The Red List.
– Dusting off my Film/TV Extra skills and doing a day’s work on a big TV show. So, much fun!
– Another guest appearance at Oz Comic Con.
– I really enjoyed the Time * Rone exhibition.
A huge thanks to everyone who bought my books and left reviews or gave shout-outs on social media, and who listened to my podcast/radio/tv interviews. I really appreciate your support!
I’m ending the year by working on book 3 in my Salvation series (The Subjugate, The Sensation).
I feel like 2025 is going to be a great year…
Here’s hoping!
