I thought I’d better post an update on the whereabouts of Aurora: Atlas (Aurora 8) for those of you who don’t follow my social media. As usual things have been busy here and over the past few months I’ve been making my way through a series of deadlines for various pitches and applications. The good news is, is that for the moment all my deadlines have been met and I am currently deadline free! Which means – I can get back to writing ATLAS!

The wonderful thing about self-publishing the Aurora series is that I have flexibility. The downside is that if another opportunity pops up with a fixed deadline, I have to use that flexibility and set the Aurora book aside, to meet the fixed deadline. All of which is to say that I’m sorry it’s taken so long to get the next Aurora book to you, but I must also strike while the iron is hot if an opportunity appears – for the sake of my long-term career. But hand on heart, you will get ATLAS this year. It’s been too long already.

Given the time that has elapsed between the release of books, I’ve decided to add a Character Glossary/Recap at the start of AURORA: ATLAS (Aurora 8). And hoo boy the first draft so far is 4,000 words and I haven’t finished yet. LOL. I’ve realised that over the course of 7 books I’ve created a richly populated world and have essentially created my own multi-layered universe akin to Marvel.

I mean, we have the United National Forces as a whole (and it’s history), the Space Duty Division, the Earth Duty Division, Centralis Command and all the players there (like General Berger and Lieutenant-General Marchant), the Moon colonies – headed up by President Gillet, the Mars colonies – headed up by President Harkowitz, Mars Maximum Security Prison – Hell Town, all the various space stations (Darwin, Pegasus, Navarone, etc, and the soon to be complete Station Atlas), we have the world of the Universal Press with Miranda Finch, and background players like billionaires Regan Lotz and Charles Mortimer, then we have the UNF Advanced Soldier Program (UNFASP) Alpha soldiers (the Aurora team, the Carcharias team, Morell’s team), and the soon to be Alpha-Mechs, plus we have the First Gen soldiers and the JEM army, and we also have Roxy’s underground fighters, and some of the Originals are still in play, and then we have the UNF AIs like Archie, Wilfred, Josiah and Benedict who still have a part to play, then we have the Sentinels, everyone involved in the Advanced Weapons and Fleet Program (AWAFP) and on the Zeta Archelois Executive Panel (ZAEP), then we have the Zetas themselves – of which there have been five kinds identified, we have the links between them and the Homo Heidelbergensis, and then there are all the people associated with Harris’ gift and his ancestry like DaJuan, and the dead soldiers who communicate with Harris, and I’m pretty sure I’m probably forgetting someone right now…

My friends, all the books to date have established these groups/locations/elements because they all have a part to play in the finale and hoo boy it’s going to be a universal war alright!

It’s one that has spanned three generations of the Welles family – from Colonel Welles (one of the ‘Originals’), to his daughter Carrie (the first female Alpha soldier), and on to her children: Brody, Freya and Jesse (the First Gen Soldiers).

Anyway, this is just to say that I’m giving you a glossary/recap at the start of AURORA: ATLAS (Aurora 8) to help refresh your memory on the expansive Aurora universe and its lore!

At this stage there are only two books left in the series: Aurora: Atlas (8) and book 9 (the name of which I’m keeping secret for now). Although, there is the potential for a spin-off…

It’s going to be epic!

Hi Amanda, I have just finished Eden and about to start Decima. I absolutely LOVE these books. I have read them non-stop for weeks now and feeling bitter sweet that Iā€™m getting all close to the end.

I am unable to find the title of book 7 though. I read that you are up to writing book 8 though. Does book 7 exist to purchase?

    Again, love your work!

    • Hello Emma! Apologies for the delay in getting back to you! Yes, book 7 is called Aurora: Aurizun. I’m currently working on book 8 – Aurora: Atlas in and around other projects, so it’s on the way. Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the books. šŸ™‚ Amanda
