The Quarterback Is Toast! | A Writing Update

I’ve been quiet lately, folks, but it has all been for a good reason. I’ve been madly working away on a brand new stand alone novel, and I’m pleased to say that the first draft is now done![spacer height=”20px”]
W O O – H O O !
Of course it’s only the first draft and there are many drafts to go, but given how much I dislike writing a first draft, this is cause for celebration! I already have some notes on research to be done, scenes to add in and characters to develop, but what I really need to do now is let the book sit there for a while and marinate. After I’ve had a sufficient break from it, I will go back to it with fresh eyes and commence the second draft. Unfortunately that’s why it takes books so long to be completed – the endless revisions and the much needed space required between the revisions. Then, of course, depending on your workload, you may also have competing projects with deadlines that results in even longer breaks from your new project than you’d like. But such is life.
That is, in part, the reason why it is taking a while to bring you my other stand alone novel The Time of The Stripes. I basically wrote and edited that novel while also publishing three of the Aurora books, so I could only work on TTOTS in the gaps allowed between the publishing and editing schedule of the contracted books. Regardless, The Time of The Stripes is getting close, very close. Hopefully I’ll have some news on that book for you soon.
PAGE HEADER - the time of the stripes
Now with The Time of The Stripes, I unveiled the title once I had finished the first draft, but with this new book I’ve decided not to do that this time around and will keep the title secret for a while longer. At least until the book is closer to market. Why? Well, I know that it may take some time to get to market, so I’d just prefer to play my cards close to my chest and reveal the title further down the track. So for now, this new novel will only be known as ‘TS‘ (which are the initials of the title if you’d like to hazard a guess).
Aside from finishing this new novel, I’ve been working out a schedule for the next several months and I’ve got a fair bit to do! Most of which relates to the Aurora series. I can’t share anything with you just yet, but I’m hoping within the next few weeks I will be able to reveal what’s in store and how much longer you need to wait until book six, Aurora: Decima, is released.

I’ve also been doing a lot of reading for another (secret) project, but it’s far too early to talk about that one yet. So you’ll just have to stay tuned!
Anyway, that is where I am at at the moment. I now have three books written and in various stages of getting them to you – Aurora: Decima (Aurora 6), The Time of The Stripes, and TS.
Fingers crossed they’ll be out before you know it.
🙂
